August and this summer were record-breakers for rainfall in New Jersey, and the summer was also very hot, according to the state climatologist.

August 2011
- 16.64 inches of rain, the most since 1895.
Summer 2011 (June, July and August)
- 23.9 inches of rain, the most since 1895.
- 75.1 degrees on average, third highest since 1895 (2010 ranks first).
